I am currenlty developing a reggaeton music website, term gets about 1000 searches a day according to overture, my goal is to get the #1 spot for "reggaeton music" on all search engines, domain is new. I have done. 1. On site optimization - keyword density of 5%, title with most import keywords, H1 - H2 tags, metatags, bold letters, images with keyword.jpg, alt tags. 2. I have traded a couple of links inluding some pr3-pr2 etc. 3.robots file, xml file, site map etc. 4. I submit to a 3-5 directories every day "high quality". 5. Add new content every week 6. Post in forums, articles, with "reggaeton music" in anchor text. 7. Currenlty a PR0. By doing this constantly how long will it be until I get a #1 ranking on most SE's!! Took me 2 months to get #1 on MSN. 6+ months for Yahoo. Now, nowhere in sight on Google (best result was page 6, before Big Daddy update) The directory submissions alone will do it for MSN. But you probably won't stay there long. I think you need to maintain rapid link growth to stay there?? No, matter, they don't send much traffic. I don't know how long I'll maintain #1 on Yahoo. Some spam site(s) have dominated the rest of page 1 recently but I'm still #1 and currently page 2 for my 2nd term. Will begin work on getting the 2nd term to page 1. Netmaster123, you need content on your home page. Text content, add a few paragraphs that talk about what your site is about. Place it above your top 10 song list so it ends up higher in your source code. Get your H1, bold and regular font keywords in there. On-page optimization is VERY VERY important.
It took me about 6 months to a year to get in the top 3 of all the major search engines for my keywords. I'm still not at number 1 for all of them, but it has a lot to do with the age of the site. While a lot of inbound links are great, having a website that is a month old and a billion inbound links won't push you to the top. It takes time to get up there.
Yea I know I was going to work for a long time to get up there! What about buying permanent high PR links example. Permanent directory listings for PR5-PR6 will this boost my SE position?
PR hasn't got nothing with ranking on SERPS. Remember that. Only that will boost your rankings is age of your domain, quality topic related backlinks (don't look on PR), now is important also age of that backlinks and that's it. Without quality backlinks you are nowhere! And try to get one-way backlinks because today value of reciprocal links is devalued.
Keep building links for the site. But remember only quality, relevant links. Bad quality links will hurt your ranking. So be careful.
So how come that usually site's that have PR5-PR6 rank higher on most search engines? I thought that by having a high page rank your site would rank higher? Hilarious Jokes
So well from a Bird's eye analysis, your top competitor seems to be www .reggaetonline .net (Purposely not posting the link so tht he doesnt get the referral and increase his campaign) !! Get info about him .. See their site. .. has about 26,800 pages indexed in google..about 142,000 pages in Yahoo and 614 in MSN ...whereas the visible indexed domain backlinks are 393 in Google ...about 4,439 domain links in MSN and about 19,600 in Yahoo! That's a considerable lot, so submitting to 3-5 directories everyday definitely won't work ... You need a more systemised plan .. our forums has some very good directory submitters ... I'd refer amitpatel since he's been endorsed by many senior dp members! Write articles about reggae or get it written by a good copywriter with proper keyword optimisation and get it submitted to as many article directories as possible! Keep your quality of links maintained and slowly and gradually you shall reach the top ... On the otherside though, I'd recommend using a niche keyword would save you a lot of effort! Abhishek

Wow it really looks like a tough goal. I really dont understand how this website's get so many backlinks in so little time. This site has been online for less than two years "reggaetononline dot com" Is there any special way to do this that fast?
By having higher page rank, you will not rank higher on serps only because of that number. Big page rank tells that some page have lots of inbound links, which probably have keyword in anchor text if they rank good for some term. They rank good because of that keyword in anchor text not becuase of PR. promotion Bad quality inbound links will not boost your ranking, but they also will not hurt your ranking. Because then I can handle my competition. Put some inbound link on FFA sites and then their rankings drop. ONLY your links on your page, outbound links, can hurt you.
