1 PR6 or many PR5 ???

    Question :
If I could get a link from PR6 website (other pages pr5), what should I choose ?

    A) 1 link on home page PR6
    B) Many links from every other page on that website (pr5)

What option will be more useful for me regarding traffic and PR? (Website gets many visitors but its not related to my niche)

P.S. Someone once told me that having links on many pages from one site actually hurts you. is that right ?

If its not related to your niche then you are taking big risks by buying a high pagerank link.

If all the links are going on the one site, I'd take the pr6 one over a few pr5 links. If the pr5 links were all going on different domains I'd take the pr5 links.

If it's not related to your niche, then don't expect any improvement in rankings because of the high-PR link. However, if you're targeting their viewers then I guess having links on many pages will help you. As for the ranking, this can hurt. (why get a paid link from unrelated site in the first place :))

Try to see which page/category is most visited and try to have a link on it if you desperately want to get a link on it.

Id you should go with the one pr 6 on the home page because if you get alot of pr 5 back links from the same site it won't as much affect as one from the site that is pr6

definitely go for the home page pr6

Site wide links will only count as one so there is no point

    P.S
Unless the wepsite is relevant to your own site, don't expect much of a Boost (if any at all)

I would take the PR6 since the PR5s are all from the same domain

IMHO, if you want to advertise your site to the viewers of that PR6 site in order to increase direct/referring traffic then it'll be better to have a link on a number of pages. But, if you want to improve rankings, then it'll be better to get a link from one page instead of sitewide link. According to me, it depends on your requirement.

However, as it's an unrelated link don't expect much/or any help in rankings. Go for direct/referring traffic :) :)

From doing some experiments on this! I believe that having one PR6 backlink to your URL is stronger than having a couple of PR5 backlinks! Its an exponential curve when dealing with PRs :)

    You take PR6 as PR6 may give you a PR5 ...
PR5 may give you max PR4 etc ...

This is from my experience ...

my opinion would be.. definitely go for the homepage.. having a link on the homepage compared to having many links on a pr5 on the same site.. better if its in a different domain and class c ip.. so i suggest you get that pr6 on homepage your site must be related to the niche.. so its safe.. :)

I remember reading that it takes 60 PR5 links to make up 1 PR6 link.

    so, pr6?

That is just speculation. It looks way wrong to me, I'd rather have 6 pr5's than a pr6, never mind 60.

There is no formula for this.....60PR5 from related sites are better than 1 PR6 from related site.

If there is no difference between the traffic I would choose Long term PR6

Depends on the number of outgoing links on that page. PR 6 page with 2-3 links will certainly give you PR5, while a page with 50 links would barely give you PR1.
