1$ per month is not serious. A decent directory will charge more then 5$. We're talking about featured, and featured costs, no matter what. Don't shame yourself by showing featured links for only 1$.

Sorry to be rude, but I would not pay even 1$ per month to be in your directory.
I picked one of your inside pages (PR0) and I looked at the back links in yahoo: only one single link from one of your pages. For me it means your pages have no authority, and being listed is close to worthless. I would not even do a link exchange.

The market is clearly not in your favor. There are many free directories and I did not find anything that differentiates you from free directories (if you have such differences, they should perhaps be more apparent).

    Just an opinion of course

Thanks for the opinions so far. aramyus, yes it was my first page rank for these directories and many inside pages did not receive rank.

I am not surprised by your opinion since you are obvisiously one of the folks I have talked about in many threads lately that tries to trick their visitors into clicking adsense and is breaking their ToS, good luck, I hope no one reports you.

Don't be sore about the response you got.

If you ask for opinions, accept what you asked for, mediate between what you feel you would like to do, and then move on.

No need to point out his tactics because you did not like his response.
Stick to the subject of *your* thread.

I completely agree...... I tend to pay only for permanent additions unless the directory is so good I can't live without it...

    - The subject of my thread pertains to whether the $1 a month is working for other directories. Since he veered off topic to criticize me (and to be self admittedly "rude", "Sorry to be rude") I felt ok with pointing this out. You're probably right though.

    thanks

JMO, personally, I do not suggest selling monthly, or even yearly links for directory listing (site sponsors excluded)

many directories have lost my business because link was not permenant. It's like renting from an aparment as compared to buying a house. Don't try and get cute with $1 a month, just offer a yearly or permenant link options.

So for example you prefer to pay $45 one time than $15 a year
The advantage of paying $15 is that you ensure that you will have a good value or else you don’t renew, if you paid $45 up-front in one year the owner could close the directory and you lose. So there is advantages and disadvantages for example BOTW charges 3 times a year fee for permanent, $49.95 year or $149.95 one time and I prefer to pay yearly you don’t know where BOTW and your business will be in 3 years time.

I know where we'll be in 3 years time - same place as we were 3 years ago. Or three years before that :)
