I will ask you then. If you owned a company in south florida and wanted a website for your business and wanted somebody local to develop it, what would you search for?

That's true if you are only focusing on one particular area, you won't need all the extra traffic, just the targeted kind. Congrats :) I'm number 1 on a certain keyword though, wish it was Google though but can't complain, haha. Take care and cheers! Keep up the good work!

if you are a website designer, then why target just florida, you are basicly
leaving out the other 47 states...a designer can be virtual, he just does not
have to live in FL to design...a business can just as easily pick someone
in Washington State to do their design...

Lets be realistic on this. If you need a website done, (and not a cheap template turn and burn) but a 5k custom design website with special features. Are you going to trust somebody from across the country, whom you will have send 50% down as a retainer and you have never met this person? You would do this?

Yes, I am staying local for now. Maybe things will take off, then I go international, or maybe global. There are a lot of big companies here..

add your business to google map, that will help a lot on geo location targetting.

I'm actually not sure about the search volume for your localized "web development" keyword.
It's really not that difficult to rank well on MSN search and you might not get too much traffic, but I suspect one thing that may be some consolation to you. It seems like MSN search users tend to be a bit less-tech-savvy as they use MSN Search instead of more popular ones like Google or Yahoo simply because its the default search engine on a lot of machines and they can't be bothered to change it.

That might be exactly the demographic you're targeting with your business though, right? Its people who need a website but don't know how to make one themselves that will need your help. Anyway, its nothing bad to be listed decent on MSN (its still a top search engine) as every little bit helps. :D

What really matters how much traffic you get from them and you can find that out if you have any decent statistics program installed on your website.

Yeah, soon everybody will be able to make a website, and I will be out of work... The real goal is Google placement. Yes, it was a shock and gave me warm and tingly feelings inside to see myself #1 on MSN. But everybody uses Google. I have to tackle the big dog now...

    Way to go Boomboom!!!

I know the feeling you are having because right now I am moving up to the first page of google for around 6 to 7 keywords! I am not number 1 like you man but I am shooting for that spot right now.

    Anyways congrats!

that is fantastic result since u need to depend on geo (S.Florida of course). perhaps, you could create more relevant contents for your site and then maybe you might get better SERPs in yahoo and google as well.

for me, original content works pretty well.

    congratulations

Yes, I agree completely with your statement on adding keyword rich content. But in order to do this, I would have to create a completely new layout. VPCOMP STUDIOS is going to get a face lift and maybe some botox... :D
