How do I become #1 website listed on google front page? How to properly bid on keywords? How much do I need to spend on marketing?

    Rusomafioso,
Do you mean #1 in actual search results, or paid results on the right?

Need to be a lot more specific. Those questions are incredibly vague.

What keywords,, industry, budget, goals, etc, do you have?

I am looking to grow a website organically over time, in terms of budget I could potentially invest a couple of thousand of my own money and later on even raise money if needed... I am just interested whether anyone here is familiar with the process of getting a website to show up as a number #1 (non-sponsored) search result on google for a specific keyword. THanks for all the replies though. I truly appreciate all your help.

Regarding how to properly bid on keywords...

If you want a top spot in Adwords placement, assuming you've learned how to set up a proper campaign, start your bids slightly higher than what Google suggests for each Adgroup for the #1-3 position to insure you're on top. If you've done your homework and your ads are intelligently constructed and tailored to each of your keywords, you should get a good CTR and assuming your landing pages match your ads, you should then be able to reduce your bids to lower your CPC while still maintaining a top position.

How much to spend on marketing is determined by your visitor value, your conversion rate and how much you have to spend. There is no pat answer to that question.

All you need do is look around the forums to find a way of climbing up the search engine rankings.

However by asking such a vague question shows a supreme amount of lazyness on your part, maybe you should search for the answers first. Depending on the keywords you want to reach number 1 in google for, the task may well be impossible due to the competition. Many companies spend millions on search engine rankings and website design
