#1 on Google but nowhere to be found on Bing.

Anyone have any ideas how a site could be #1 on Google but not even show up in the Bing search results for several of it's top pages? The site is 3 years old, it was 301 redirected to a new domain about a year ago, it has high quality backlinks including several from DMOZ, I've never used any techniques which would violate webmaster guidelines, it's been verified in Bing webmaster tools and it's the largest website in this niche (500 articles, 1,000 comments, 35,000 forum posts.)

    Any suggestions?

Bing has its own algorithm and guess what, it updates it too.

If you don't see your site in bing at all, it must not be indexed or must have been penalized/banned.

Better use your Bing webmaster tool for details and/or contact support.

But hey, if you are number 1 on Google, who cares about Bing........ :)

We haven't done anything to get a penalty or ban, and about half of the pages are indexed, but not one of the top level pages even ranks in the first 5 pages on Bing. I'm thinking it has something to do with the 301 redirect. It just doesn't make sense. We are 1 of 3 forums in this niche and clearly the largest, so there is no competition for the term EXAMPLE FORUM, it just doesn't make sense.

Site not shown in bing - is one thing.
Site does not appear at first page or it appears at 5th or 10th page is another thing.

So if your site is showing up in bing but not on the first few pages, then there is nothing to worry for because Bing has an altogether different algo. Secondly, yes 301 might be the culprit. Third, competition isn't the only ranking factor. Fourth, get your site indexed via bing webmaster tool. It will work, I am sure.

Google and Bing has different metrics when it comes to search engine rankings and good for you because ranking number one in Google requires hard effort, investment, and consistency in providing interesting and engaging content to the targeted audience. Its easy to rank in Bing compared to Google and I would recommend using content marketing as your medium to target your keywords as well as your users.

Ranking in Bing is easy because it just focus link building. Since you haven't been involved in link building, that's one reason you are nowhere to be seen in Bing. Google now just do not rely too much on links.
