Nowhere to be found in Google for me for a pretty big keyword. Could i still be in the google sandbox for this keyword. My site has been around for about10 months. I just recently starting getting some google traffic for other small keywords though.

I can't seem to get any decent traffic from google. Anyone got an ideas?

How much competition does your keywords have? As far as I understand it (and someone please correct me if I'm wrong), if you have keywords that are being searched alot and have a lot of competition, you will risk getting sandboxed - which is probably what has happened.

Barry - that has something to do with it, but also, having good links pointing to you will help you out of the sandbox, or avoid it altogether.

Even if you are not in the sandbox Googles algorithm seems to be a little more decerning these days.

yeah's there's alot of competition, over 28,000,000, but yahoo has about 23,000,000. So hopefully its just the sandbox with google because i see alot of crap in the result pages where my site is obviously should be ranked higher

I disagree. The sandbox is a filter based ENTIRELY on the age of the site. PR does not matter, links do not matter. If your sites content is subject to the sandbox, you can do absolutely nothing but wait. The sandbox means your backlinks are not used when calculating SERPS. More of something that is not counted will not help.

Of course a lot of people incorrectly blame the sandbox as the reason they are not ranking well and good relevant backlinks WILL help in that case.

I'm not sure about the sandbox. I do know that my new sites get indexed well at first, the have good postions in the SERPs (google) and then they fade out. a while late they come back to hold their positions.

But when a new site has a quality inbound link (pr7+), the fading away only takes a few days, instead of weeks/months.

So my approach is: launh a site, get some good ibl's, and then put them in your own network.
