I was hoping to get some input from the resident Yahoo pro's here! I've got three established sites in moderately competitive niches that have been indexed in Yahoo for more than two years now. Each has original content, more than 500 decent backlinks, and have always been hosted on seperate US servers. The problem is that all Yahoo referrals come from uk.yahoo.com only. While each site dominates it's keywords in uk.yahoo.com, they are all missing from the first 300 serps in the search.yahoo.com US version. I would love to hear from anyone who has had similar experience, and what can be done to make them rank as they should in US serps! Thanks in advance - Lisa
Let me guess, your website is not a .com? From my experience I have noticed that Google.com and Yahoo.com give preference to .com domains. Meanwhile their international versions don't give this preference. If you compare results you'll see a lot more .co.uk and such on an international version. Basically they didn't want to crowd US search results with websites that probably aren't american. To combat this I suggest that you focus on getting more links from quality websites. Usually you can overcome any ranking obstacle by getting better links. Of course make sure you don't get too many links all at once. Try to get them gradually so that it looks like natural linking.
