There is is a big difference between making $1mil a year and having a million dollars. Retirement planning and savings will push you to that amount if you have a healthy income.

too bad I'm not American.... well not really. :p

seriously though a million dollars is a good sum. With proper planning and investments one could live quite well without even touching the principal.

Time value of money is a bitch though. 1 dollar today is not what it will be worth in say 40 years. I million is most likely not enough money to retire on.

You haven't been checking out as many DP member sites as I have, obviously ;)

I bet there are a handful here, but definitely not 1 in 5.

Hmmm 1 in 5 is probably innacurate. Who is his source for this info?

    lol already done mate!

    oj

But it shows that Google only needs a reletively few, talented people to keeps huge infrastructure alive. I'd give my right arm to be in the Google teams to be honest, just for the sheer experience of it - I bet it's more nerdy than a university computer science class there!

I have been thinking of this and actually think it would be a higher amount. 1mil isn't that much these days. Take anyone in a higher development or a manager role in there late 30's and they most likely have this much in assets.
