1 in 2 people are poor or low-income in USA...is this really true?

There are poor peoples all over the world, why they can't be even in the US? I think the article it's true.

 

Tell them to buy less crap then. How many Americans do you know that are forced to park outside because their garages are fill with crap to the very top?

People have to spend spend spend, that's what creates the jobs, if everyone was to save their money it wouldn't have a good effect on their economy. The problem is that most people buy everything on credit, the culture of "buy now, pay later" must come to an end.

 

Oh they will, from the welfare cheque.. Even the poors aint that poor in America.. They get more in welfare than what a hardworking fella earns in an year in any third world country.

How do you have public water without fluoride and chlorine? That's something that every city put in their water to help "protect your teeth" and "keep out bacteria." I personally only drink bottled water or filtered water through the fridge, but I'd like to know how you get cleaner public water. Is it the area you live or do you filter?

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The United States holds a disproportionate amount of the world's rich people.

It only takes $34,000 a year, after taxes, to be among the richest 1% in the world. That's for each person living under the same roof, including children. (So a family of four, for example, needs to make $136,000.)

So where do these lucky rich people live? As of 2005 -- the most recent data available -- about half of them, or 29 million lived in the United States, according to calculations by World Bank economist Branko Milanovic in his book The Haves and the Have-Nots.

Another four million live in Germany. The rest are mainly scattered throughout Europe, Latin America and a few Asian countries. Statistically speaking, none live in Africa, China or India despite those being some of the most populous areas of the world.

The numbers put into perspective the idea of a rapidly growing global middle class.

Sure, China and India are seeing their economies grow quickly, and along with that growth, large portions of their populations are also becoming richer. But remember, the emerging world is starting from a very low base to begin with, so its middle class is just that -- still emerging, says Milanovic.

"It doesn't seem right to define as middle class, people who would be on food stamps in the United States," Milanovic said.

The true global middle class, falls far short of owning a home, having a car in a driveway, saving for retirement and sending their kids to college. In fact, people at the world's true middle -- as defined by median income -- live on just $1,225 a year. (And, yes, Milanovic's numbers are adjusted to account for different costs of living across the globe.)

In the grand scheme of things, even the poorest 5% of Americans are better off financially than two thirds of the entire world.

The experts of America have spoken, unlike its Asian counterparts or European, Americans seem to need expert guidance for everything, from how to wash clothes properly, cook an omelette, invest in shares or Have SEX.

 

Well, with the exception that the author of the report is not American. In such a hurry to make a fool of yourself, eh?

 

The largest city in the area, 1 million plus, filters its water. However, except for the 10% coming from city wells, none of it is chlorinated. And none of the water from any source is flouridated. Many nearby cities buy this same water and do nothing to it.

I work in that city and have no problem drinking the water there. The city I live by chloridates and flouridates its water - I never drink it. I live outside the city and have untreated well water - I drink that.

 

If people in the US are low-income earners, then how about those in other countries? Maybe worst right?
Poverty is always an unsolved issue in the community. With many families starving, not getting enough of what they should be getting, etc.
