#1 Google Spot and Then Disappeared

I had #1 spot for keyword phrase "google slap" for a little over a day, and then suddenly it just went POOF.. no where to be found. It disappeared about an hour after someone submitted my article to Digg - Same title and copy/paste 1st paragraph. Is Google seeing my article as a duplicate? Did this happen to you guys?

I think it should bounce back to its position. Google does this all the time. Just don't change any title or anything in your website and get some more backlinks.

You probably were getting results from a different Google data center. In time you will likely get similar rankings across other Google data centers. You just have to be patient.

was the ranking for your existing site for which you are targeting that specific term or for a new article thgat you have just recently posted? often when you post a new article on your blog or add new content on your site, google shows that on the front page based on few factors. that front page ranking for new pages dont last however. considering the fact that your ranking on #1 spot was for a day and then it vanished, i'm sensing thats what happened and it will not come back up to #1 by itself anymore unless you go thru the whole 9 yards of seo and link building for it. but if it for an old site/content, then it wil lbe lot easier to bring the ranking back.

I think you are right sultanofseo. Maybe the post did not really get indexed in the first place. I did hear from somewhere else similar to what you said that sometimes Google will put some importance on a brand new post for a day or two. Google is such a tease! Normally, my posts get indexed in a week or two. The only thing I can do now is just wait. Thanks for being informative!

@Komicwords - they love to play with your mind! There is also nothing we can really do about it either.

@newlogo - nope, nothing was changed. Now it is just a waiting game to be indexed.
