Hi Have anyone know is this legal for onshore hosting ? For example: - Website abc.com is warez site and hosting on Offshore hosting A. abc.com is using "warez" template and some "warez" extensions (Joomla). But by myself i modded templates & extensions and split: css & javascript into: templates.css - extensions.css - jslib.js - On Hosting B (OnShore and do not allow for warez site). I put: * templates.css - extensions.css - jslib.jss * All image (screenshot - and legal images) Back again Hosting A (Offshore). I ref templates.css - extensions.css, jslib.js ..etc .. on Warez website (hosting on A) Do you think is this legal for hosting B ? Thank you
If the source was from a warez file, then no, it's not legal, even if modified. If any of the files were licensed under a particular license, you are bound to those terms. If you don't follow and modify them, regardless of where the source came from, you will be responsible for hosting them.
I don't think you are allowed to hotlink like that... Well warez being warez... Legally you can do what you have in mind but the warez must come from host A and not look like it came through host B. Although technically it could be legal to bounce the file off of host B without it ever been saved or cached (EG: javascript), but this could surely cause some people at the hosts to get upset... And last time I checked you can modify most Joomla freely because of the GPL license but check the copyright and other legal licenses...
Hi Thank you for your reply but how about this case: - Template is legal and of course is allowed for modify that fit user site. - All Extensions are legal too. And what do i do are: - Merge all css from both Template & Extensions into 2 files: templates.css & extensions.css - Merge all js from my site (Joomla is open source and free to use - js is lib of Joomla and Extensions) into 1 file: jslib.js And these css & js will hosting on onshore hosting. Is it legal for Onshore Hosting. And infact on Onshore. Everything hosting is legal, no website on it for warez site. Just store css & js & img PS: Why dont i do that ? 1. For optimize website that have just 1-2 css file (and w/ compress 1 file compress will have smalles than 2 files compress) 2. Have same for js And beside that. I can reuse js w/o load it for dup files. 3. Optimize for server hosting. That dont spend too much resource (specially for imgs)
You could do that if it's a paid host because then they won't really how you use your host and bandwidth as long as there is no warez files or indexes on their host... But you plan should work....
It doesn't matter where your servers are located. What really matters is where YOU are. Sure why would anyone care about screenshots?
Technically screen shots can be considered to advocate warez unless you say somewhere that it was submitted by a user who wishes to remain anon and that the user has a legit copy... It does matter where the servers are, you can't be punished in country A for doing a crime in country B, unless it falls in INTERPOL's jurisdiction (which I doubt).
