I noticed this on several forums. The homepage has always higher PR than forum pages. Which is the site's official PR..the homepage or other pages?
It's PageRank...it is an assessment of the link strength of the page. Most inner pages get their PR from being linked to the homepage...since that's where the majority of links point. As a result they tend to have lower PR. The "official" PR is the domain's, because it gives an idea of how much PR to expect on a new page on that site. The point being that inner pages with different PR actually give different strength to their outbound links.
Deep linking can give back pages a higher PR then the home page. Lets say the home page has a PR 3 with X amount of links pointing in to it. A back page has X + 50 links pointing into it. It is possible that the back page will have a higher PR then the home page.
It is possible to get a better PR on your inner pages but in general, the home or index or default page will have the highest pagerank as it will have more links pointing to it. The Millzman.
Most of your links will point to your homepage, which is why it ends up having a higher page rank than your inner pages. Most of the inner pages do gain PR after a while ( as a consequence of the home page having strong PR). Your internal linking structure is important. At DP, each member profile has a PR- ranges from zero to four. There might be some five's in there too, but I'm not sure about that.
