    Hey guys, come on.

10 Bucks for a logo. WTF

Why dont you try to get a logo out there, a cheap designer wont even answer your email for no less than 50 Dollars.

We are not making our work worth.
We are doing a 100 Dollars work for pennies.

Lets take some actions, lets add some rules on Logo Basic Prices, for example a logo should cost at least 30 bucks, headers at least 20 and other designs starting from 50.

    This is serious.

Hmm, I agree on half the things you've just said. Yes logos should be worth more, but not everyone has that much money. That is one of the good things about seeking freelance designs; they are simply cheaper. If for example a big company that makes millions, offers you 20 bucks for a logo - I would have to say that is outrageous. However, some of the people here are just people who work from their home, or people who want to START an online buisness. Paying that much for a single logo would be too much for them, and we would have alot less contests around here. THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT OF ALL, is if the prices are so high, then the expectations are going to be high too. Alot of the not so experienced graphic designers will most likely drop out of the competition. C'mon, we need to give people some chance to improve right?

    That is my opinion.
    Thanks,
    Jason

You can't decide the prices. Everyone has the right to charge what they want for their work.

Some people do contests for fun. You have no right to tell anyone how much they should work for, or how much people should pay.

Yep I agree with that - also a designer can compete in whatever contests he/she wants - no one is forced to do a logo for a cheap price - you design in something you think is worthwhile, if that means you do $50+ logo contests so be it - if you prefer the $10 contests good for you :) - it's your choice ;)
btw terminator: that was not aimed at you just the first part :D

In a free market, you can charge whatever you please.

At the end of the day, you still have to produce great work for what you charge :D

These days I hardly partake in any contests on here due to my 'proper' workload from clients. I will enter the higher-paying ones if I feel I have a good chance of winning and have the time to make an entry.

I don't think there should be a minimum prize, but the one thing I would like contest holders to observe is that quality is always relative to price. If you offer somebody $20 for a logo, please don't expect a stunningly professional entry. Don't expect 20 revisions before you choose a winner. Also, CHs that offer those smaller prizes need to be aware that the majority of the 'top' designers on this board won't even bother opening the thread never mind submitting an entry, if the prize is that low.

At the end of the day, you should always be able to offer any amount of money as long as you are realistic in your expections.

I won't myself open Photoshop (or illustrator), and spend hours for $10. But, sometime, you just want to create logo (reason could be to build portfolio, practice, or just for fun).

$50 is even cheap for a real professional logo IMO. I've made logos for low $xx to mid $xxx, myself.
You just can't enforce a rule about minimum prize, or post on contest thread, keep them clean, or else you'll probably receive an infraction.

    I agree with 10000000000000000...% .
guys, these are CONTESTS! means MOST OF THE TIME YOU DESIGN WITHOUT GETTING PAID , MEANS YOU'RE WASTING YOUR TIME FOR ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING.
So, in the contests you win , and finaly get the money out of 20 other designers, the prize would be 10$? unreasonable.

Even without a contest I charge 15$ for a logo , so I think contests should start at 50$ like the thread's writer said.
If you want a logo in 10$ , purcahse it from a low level designer and it shouldnt even be in the contests forum.

    Regards,
    IQ.

    I agree to!

Logo is not worth Under $100, if you see a professional logo contests around the net, you will see no less than $100 logo contests, but what can we do?

most people are asking web page layouts for $60 , a web page layout would cost about $200 or more, design work is very demanding.

    Regards.

It's all supply and demand. If the amount someone is offering for a contest is too low, then no one would respond. If people do respond, then the price must be ok. Lower priced contests will on average get less and lower quality entries and higher priced contest will on average get more and better quality entries so in the end it all works out.

If you feel you'll be underpaid, then simply don't enter those contests. If you think the pay is fair or if you just like doing it for fun or practice then go right ahead. In the end supply and demand evens it out.
