1 billion posts with PHPbb

    Hello

    Gaiaonline recently crossed the billion posts on its forums, a remarkable performance for a forum equipped with phpbb (and plenty of servers of course)

    This eve's stats reach
    Gaia has 1,047,701,789 articles posted with 7,669,831 registered users.
    Most users ever online was 86,738 on Thu Jan 04, 2007

    Nice figures no ?

    did you know that this is world's bigges forum and that they are able to peak at 1 000 000 posts a day ... !

    they had to mod the hell outta the phpbb backend to get it running so smooth. some of those changes were actually implemented into the new phpbb 3.0

    yeah, that is true, the original name of their sowtware running their forum once was phpbb. But their main task force relies on their servers equipment. read Derek Liu's interview on big-boards at http://www.big-boards.com/int.php?n=60b
    This interview is of extreme interest, too bad it is quite old now, can you imagine that at the time it was written, Gaiaonline only had a small 200 million posts only....:p
