    Did any of you successfully transfer out a domain name from 1and1? I am having trouble and only can sell my name through sedo...which take a big chuck of my money....:mad:

    I am hosted at 1and1
    but
    i was smart enough to always keep domain and hosting in 2 different companies
    domain since beginning is at networksolutions.com

    transfer of domain only is necessary if you want to change registrar
    to change host normally there is NO need at all
    you should check the details about that - but most registrar have nameserver services where you simply change the NS1/NS1 pointing to NEW host while you keep on paying domain only for 1and1 as registrar w/o using their hosting

    normally the 2 services registrar ( domain name ) and hosting are striclty separated
    1and1 hs near zero support - unless you call - but they have a large FAQ section onlinie - may be you find the needed details there
