    No, You can transfer it other registrar without paying anything extra after 60days.

    I have done same thing during similar promo from yahoo in 2005:p

    That deal is you use there hosting I believe and they have the worst support that I have came across I used there hosting when I first started. I had some problems with there cpanel . took them fkin 5 months to fix it.

    There is a catch.
    The renewal price is too high.
    And i have bad experience with them.
    They give me problem when i request transfer out,they slow down the process by not sending me the authorize code.
    It take me 1 month to transfer my domain to GD

    actually lot of hosting company done this trick...first, register as low as $1.99....but then for renew, it can be too expensive whereby you can get better price somewhere else...my suggestion only buy from dedicated & trustworthy company....i bought all my domain from namecheap.... :)

    It is better if you don't have 10$ now. But have to pay a huge renewal fee.
    I always prefer name.com as I can register with unverified paypal account for just 7.99.
    it's 1$ more than Godaddy.
