CJ is definitely the most advanced affiliate program there is in the Internet today. Today there are more than 1,700 programs that you can join in CJ. I joined them all - all 1,700 programs. Here's the result: 1,700 applications 1,200 REJECTIONS Why there were so many automatic rejections? I felt the automatic rejection was so unfair, baseless, weird, so I posted a blog on Affiliate Stupidity. And I ran to Digg and Reddit... I don't know if that pure expression of personal belief has helped. Today I checked my email: More or less 500 programs have already accepted. Three were from surprise offers. And more welcome emails are coming...
Reason #1 why you were rejected (the main reason for auto-declines): You're outside of the US. Many advertisers just accept US/Canada affiliates. This is due to everything from quality of traffic issues (bad quality or fraud) to a recommendation of a company's legal team in terms of contract enforcement. Reason #2: Some advertisers don't take on new affiliates who have less than X earnings bars. This can be another auto-decline issue. Reason #3: Your websites just have random content and ads on them. Some advertisers don't like sites with blog post after blog post of just affiliate links. Manual decline. Reason #4: You operate forums. Some advertisers do not want to be on forums, as they don't know what will be posted. Manual decline. And the reason why you were manually declined from my program the other day, and were declined from at least another today... A post entitled "CJ Advertisers, Don’t Be Digitally Stupid".. I'm sure my brand wants to be associated with someone who's quick to slander another company when things don't go their way. Manual decline.
Johu, That was pretty informative. Sometimes I've applied to an advertiser and 0.5 seconds after I clicked apply it came up with "Rejected" - I was like wtf already? Heh. But if they have auto-rules like US restrictions then that makes more sense now.
I forgot to mention that auto-declines can also be created based on the website category chosen (such as Malls, Blogs, Music, Entertainment), but I don't think that happens often.
You missed the whole point of the article. There is nothing slanderous in the blog post. If it was slander, Adobe and Emirates Airlines could have rejected my application.
