it's an article directory. Enough said... Your visitors are most likely going to be webmaster (or their software). They do not click ads. You should just move on and pick another niche. I don't see how (or know if I believe) you're getting that much traffic to an article directory. They were hit hard by Panda. -------------------------------------- and learn how to use the "multi quote" button rather than reply to each persons threads with a new post.
Providing the OP *IS NOT* exaggerating traffic levels, the suggest moving on and picking a new niche is laughable. If Adsense doesn't work, you move along to other revenue streams. There are plenty of CPA offers which would be suitable for webmaster traffic. You don't just "move on" from a project generating 1.7mil pageviews monthly, regardless of whether the niche is poor for click through or not. WebDev
You're right, I wouldn't completely give up on it and delete it, would just move on to a new project myself. But no ads are going to make much in webmaster niche. *note- I do find it hard to believe an article directory without unique content gets that much traffic. I could be wrong....
I'd lean towards agreeing with you there, especially with an Alexa rank of 160k - webmaster related websites tend to have much lower Alexa rankings simply due to the higher likelihood that visitors have the toolbar installed. Perhaps a little exaggeration has been made, at least for the unique percentage.
That's right. Also the ads must be relevant to your visitors. Don't attract visitors through traffic exchange sites cause they won't click your ads.
At that volume I'm surprised you aren't getting offers from private sellers - every now and again I get someone buying a link on my site at anything from $20-60 a month just for a text link. And that's on a site that gets < 2000 pageviews a day. Don't get those that often though, usually only have 1 of those active at a time. My main site with the highest traffic on the other hand, I'm still waiting to crack a consistent 20k pageviews a day or better yet 1M pageviews a month so I can apply to the various CPM ad networks. Right now it peaks at over 20k a day but the average is lower. Got my first request for a private ad this week, PR or SERP or something must have gone up.
Equally, the adverts are rather obvious (images) and rather generic I find the best results come from blended adverts using text Follow the advice above first and then compare in two weeks time / four weeks time Also look at targeted affiliate schemes Obviously this means the advert is fixed, but I find these give much better results than googleads, as you determine which programs will work best for your content Finally, with respect to your website I found it difficult to find new content, as an example published during December 2011 or January 2012 Many appeared to be from 2008 This made it feel more like a FAQ database, rather than articles Equally, the news section is completely empty
Adsense sucks. You need to be using CPA instead. with that kind of traffic, you shouldn't be worried about money.
Consider using openx or DFP - also remember that with more traffic comes a lower CTR, the biggest site I manage gets over 10 million PV per day and has a CTR av across the site of 0.03%, and that's from 96% US traffic.
60,000 in a day huge !!!!! try to get local or private ads . It will be more profitable . . I don't know about your website .if it was the i can say something that may helpful for you .
