Yes, the What's Happening in Los Angeles section updates daily with an RSS feed from the LA times celebrity section. You can change the feed to any rss feed you like.

no, the term "yellowpages" and the logo of the walking fingers are NOT trademarked in the US. They are open for anyone to use. In Canada however, it is trademarked and you can not use the term 'yellowpages', but that is ONLY Canada.

A site like this targets longtail keywords. since there are so many business listings, there are thousands of keywords phrases that get targeted.

Here is a random list of keyword phrases that were searched for on one of my other sites:

As you can see, there are unlimited search queries that these type of sites will draw and they are very unique, so you won't have a lot of competition for them like you would for say "home loans" where everyone is trying to target.
