Hi Guys, I started a website a few months back selling one single download for $1.29 (transaction through paypal, so I only pocket about $0.95). Till now I have had approx 1850 visitors for 17 sales. Given with what the site is I'm pretty happy with this average. I was really only banking on one download per 200 visits. I would love to put this product on clickbank but is it really worth the $48 sign up fee? The real question is would anyone bother wanting to sell this product for such a small return? Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated. Thanks, SD
Add some content to it.. Make it stand out from the others in your niche, and come up with a decent price. At least $39. And have a payout of 75% to affiliates, then you will more likely to be accepted in Clickbank and get some affiliates on board. Al.
Nobody would go through the hassle of promoting a $1.29 product... when they'd get just pennies from it. In my opinion, I wouldn't go about putting it on Clickbank unless you had the price up about where "precious007" said.
Just like precious said, make the product your promoting stand out. I don't know what your promoting, but if you pricing it at $1.29, in your mind and mine it might not make it seem that big of a "download". Is it an ebook, software, or something else? If its something small figure out a way to "beef" it up and make it something worthy of a product people will pay $27 or $37 for it. Stuff just looks cheaper to people when their shopping online when there's a '7' on the end of it, $27 looks like $20 and $37 looks like $30 to people when shopping online. If you can do that and get a professional looking sales page and letter you will do way better than 1:200 conversion rate at a higher price and make more than $25 a day, which is more than what you've already made for how ever long you've been trying to make money off of this "download".
Others are correct by saying that nobody would promote your $1.29 product, but they've missed another important part: Clickbank charges 7.5% +$1 for each sale - meaning that you would actually lose money, not make it (the $1 gets deducted after the affiliate payment). If you insist on charging pennies for your product (I assume that the only sane reason for doing it is that your book either contains affiliate links or you're building a list) then distributing it for free would be, by far, a better bet. You don't need affiliates for that either - just stick it anywhere you can (forums, torrents, directories, etc. etc. - options are endless) and watch the downloads rise.
If so then good for me that I'm doing it by providing some actual value to the thread and some suggestions, I guess - contrary to to some others (won't say any names) who tend to made posts that are utterly useless .. P.S. Thanks for the advertisement! I'm sure many wouldn't have noticed my signature without your comment
Thanks for everyones comments. no surprise in your answers, i did not think anyone would want to promote such a cheap product. its a difficult situation because the product is selling so i don't want to kill the site; however at the price i'm selling it at makes it hard to invest money into areas such as SEO. So I'm in this grey area trying to work out how to get more traffic. For those that asked what I am selling it is an audio bible. S.D
how should we know? Some products are not worth 10 cents, other thousands. What is your question? Why are you selling a product so cheap its not even worth it after paypal fees?
The commission would be very small, may be you are thinking to raise the price to raise the commission for affiliates.
Clickbank got a minimum price of $3. But as many have said already, dont bother to sell anything for less than $30 because noone would promote anyways - not worth the effort for affiliates (its much easy and worthed to promote something else)
