What are you using to monitor the google results? It will show a result thats different from me when you view it. Thats how google works now.. especially if you have visited the site more than once.

 

his results will be final and the screenshots will be based on his browser.. I hope he get it using GOOGLE.COM not on local one

 

Based on his browser? That wouldnt be fair. Because he will be seeing differents results to you and me.

 

It would be great if Sean displays the results here on board + PM. As per the rule set by Sean top 10 on Google.com will be checked. I am #5 at google.com (I am not considering host domain as a participant - still the final decision is on Sean.

Hi everyone - I'm just reading all the emails this morn...I simply folllowed the same SEO contest as Troy and was even a participant Just followed same rules - the checks are indeed from google and from my ip address - yes google will vary across the world and even time but that would be impossible to manage and cost $$ to figure out who then really won.

the results are based on my google check my ip address as the results matter mostly to this area/U.S. for my client.

So in the spirit of this contest I hope you all can understand and you can reference other sEo contests done if you wish, like hr troys...

ANyway in the spirit of this contest - please pm me your paypal id for prizes in top 10 - even it it didn't show up on my google results and screen captures - let me look at what you did and evaluate to see if we give a bonus!

I also will EXTEND this contest to an additional prize but dont' wan't to continue via this thread or pm's as I can't respond to all of the pm's I'm getting whilst trying to do my own job to pay the rent

I dont think this has be judged fair at all. If there are 4 sites: a, b, c and d and you visit site "a" 8 times, site "b" 3 times and site "c" and "d" 0 times. That will MANIPULATE the results! Therefore making it void. You needed to use a tool such as DP keyword tool to track the comp.

 

SEAN I got few questions? I guess this is the right time to know as the contest is over? (I know you are keeping busy, but i got to ask this)

1. The objective behind this CONTEST? (I understand with this kind of SEO Contest there is lot of learnings)
2. The contest prize is between $1200 to 1500 (Including Bonus). So is it worth to spend this kind of money for the kind of learning you have made?

I wish if every 1 can participate and share their view it would be great

From this kind of contest the organizers can judge or find some of the TOP SEO candidates,individuals,companies etc.
Also
for contest like "SEOContest2008" I am sure the organizers are looking to popularize their Forum (UK Webmaster Forum) and also increase their member list + visitor base.

and for the blogspot entry.. this site was really was my official entry but it is DANCING all the time. it was index at the 2nd day of the contest and gone the next 2 days and get de-index. I remember my entry on SEOCONTEST2008 and rearranged the links that i have for my blogspot that also experience this mess. my SEOcontest2008 entry was created when the contest started and build some links on it and i make it on the 2nd page the next but its not good. Now my entry's first page is not showing because of INCONSISTENCY of building links and that is the problem happen on my blogspot entry here.

happily my site back again before the contest is over and reach the top spot but not on the first position.

I created about my issue and got replied by DP members i'm just waiting for mods to do it ..

 

I've so far given prizes out to ones following the rules and then also asked the other winners who won to change their blogs/etc. so it follows the rules

now I see everyone doing a free for all against the rules mentioning the mark keyword in the forum

No more prize money is to be distributed until that is 1. stopped 2. all entries edited as per the contest rules.

A very recent similar contest was run by hrtroy and there was never any issues addressed by what ip address google would be checked, and contest rules not being paid attention.

A question was asked if this was worth it - I think better to select 3 willing participants to work closer with each person. My client pays for the prizes and frankly my own jobs with her is on the line due to folks not following the contest rules.

I have awarded the bonus prizes as promised and even offered a few of you some additoinal contract work...tyring to to a good thing here and if seems to be backfiring.

 

so i will not be rewarded? for my work? all my entries will be just ignored after making those sites on the top page?
