1:150 convertion ratio with adwords... is that good?

    Hi,
I'm currently converting 1:150 on consumer electronics keywords right now, using google adwords. I'm using CJ as an affiliate program.

Do you guys think this is a good convertion ratio?

I have a lot of experience building organic traffic, but none with PPC... I wanted to try out google adwords on a products review site of mine and I got a convertion ratio of 1:150 out of 10k unique, on a 3 months period. I'm selling kodak cameras on that page.

Please let me know what you guys think of that ratio.

    Thanks,
    Steve

So you're saying out of every 150 people who clcik on your ad, 1 person ends up buying?

Thats a CTR of less than 1% I guess. According to me thats quite low. You might not be using the right keywords or your landing page might not be having the right CTA (Call to action also known as Call for action).

Yes, that's what I'm saying... out of 150 clicks received from adwords, I get 1 sale, on average.
What CTR do you think would be good for my niche? Are you in the same niche as me?

    Thanks for your answer!
    Steve

Do you mean conversion (not CTR)?

Prookle - the bottom line is is it profitable? Do you stand to make more off that 1 sale than you have to specd to get those 150 clicks? If so that's great - if not keep tweaking till' you find the point of profitablity.

If you're spending $50 on 150 clicks and someone buys a $500 camera that's good ROI, you can work on your CTR though, so G won't raise your bids!

as dog42 said, ROI is important not conversion rate (a low rate is better though..lol)

Yep, for low value items i've seen conversion rates as high as 10%
It depends on various things like whether the text/description used is clear (so people won't click on your link thinking its something else)

2-3% for high end value items would be good imo

A decent conversion rate is around 2.5% which means 5 conversion per 200 visitors.

Well i've experienced that too. I have very low clickthrough and low ROI follows. i was wondering if i could set different title or description for each keyword under a single Ad Group. I think this could help.

I would say that the figures you gave are subjective. I have experienced low conversion rates when promoting big-ticket items (with a correspondingly high commission). So if you are getting a 1:150 conversion rate but earning a larger commission and ROI then I would be happy.
