$1,000 Article Popularity Contest

Hello,

I wanted to let everyone know that I am launching a contest for the best article related to my web site. The contest will end May 25th and the winner will get $1,000.

Now, I know there are a lot of article writers here on DP. I have hired most of them at one point or another. So, if you write articles, why not enter the contest. It's great bragging rights if you win, good money, and you can use your winning of the contest as proof that you are the best article writer on DP......and well then you can increase your prices...no?

Quick question, have you held one of these contests before? Because I don't feel very secure in the 'contest cancelled' details.

 

No, unfortunately this is our first competition. But, everyone has to start somewhere right? We hope to make this a quarterly contest and it would not benefit us to "dupe" any potential contestants.

The contest is real as is our desire to continue it going forward.

As per the rules of the contest "There must be a minimum of ten (10) contestants for the contest to take place. At least one of the entries MUST obtain at least 250 "votes" or "diggs" by the end of the contest. If these requirements are not met, the contest will be cancelled."

Obviously, if only one person enters the contest, we would see that as a general lack of interest. I do not think that will be the case though as I have already received a dozen or so information requests.

 

Thanks for the PM about this, but generally that is considered as SPAM and frowned upon here at DP.

You might get a better response if you posted this in the contest forum.

 

That isn't an acceptable reason for posting a contest thread where its not allowed.

 

Wow, lighten up people. Take the chip off your shoulder, have a cup of tea or something. There is nothing wrong with trying to let people know about this competition. If it was in the wrong thread...sue me! Or better yet let the moderators take care of the problem (which they have).

So,is nobody else on DP interested in a simple article contest for 1k?

 

I agree, stop moaning people, this guy is offering $1k, which is a fair bit of cash. I might enter, can this article be about anything?

 

Yup! The goal is to increase awareness of social media websites and the importance of them for a small / medium size website.

thing works out ? 250 --> a huge number of Diggs.

Ofcourse - the articles gotta be good - but would it recieve the best exposure in your site ?

If there are a lot of Articles on somewhat same topics - would it turn away the readers somehow ?

 

Well, that is one of the reasons why the topic is left open. You can write about anything you want or anything that you think will be popular. Once the entry is posted on the contest site, there will be two Digg this and Vote buttons. Contestants can encourage friends and family to check it out or whatever. Digg and netscape both have great spam filters in place that will keep people from digging their own story over and over again on different user names.

However, due to some objections, I think the vote count of 250 was removed. Now it is simply the most diggs and votes wins. 1k is a lot of money for me out of pocket...but I hoped people would link to the competition and their own entries which would make it somewhat worthwhile. If I get a lot of entries and good diggs/votes I will look into a montly contest.
