Err, yes sir, said he sitting up in his seat! May I call you Victor?
I did say in more or less a long-winded way (maybe) I would find other ways to do it in another fashion (most probably) if I had to pay (without option) 2 cents per word
    1. The amount of articles I would have to offer (writers) would decrease dramatically to compensate.
    2. At that rate I would consider getting and/or employing (as staff) a good typist and/or writer (because of the quantity I need).
    3. And no, my compensation tactics would help to ensure that I did not go out of business.

If I could not compensate (which would not happen) and I had to pay that amount then it would have a knock on affect in pricing my end (dependant what the articles are for) i.e. someone else would/could employ someone in house for instance and make me less aggressive (price wise) in the market place, for instance.

Yeah; I know, you are not wrong, unfortunately at this point I cannot comment on that one.

Victor Do you live in a cave or something? People always fight and claw (especially in business) you always have to price right to sometimes remove any competition, to get “a foot in the door”, a typical example of this is some of the big boys “A STORE” for example, they moved into my town with their HUGE store and sold everything at cost (having the back up of their stores in oh so many other towns and cities) this slaughtered all the small shops in our town who just could not compete against this giant! Now that’s nasty but true.

I can see what you are driving at (and it would never happen) but refer to my metaphor above, same applies across everything if you go into business for yourself, you have to be as aggressively competitive as the next man else; you quite simply lose, at the end of the day the public usually benefits (or the end recipient which in this case is me @ $0.01), it’s not the same as “being employed” usually you are protected from the nasty reality of business.

LOL, Victor; we are angry today:) yeah; those scams are a bit of a head **** but it also depends on the “persons” situation, in some foreign countries 30 bucks is a lot of money! Course it is also reflected in their cost of living, whereas $30 may just buy a decent meal in our country it may buy food for a whole family for a week somewhere else! (I look at that as helpful and positive) So that does have some influence over the weight of our dollar or pound a buck is only worth 50 pence (roughly) in my country, the British quid is very strong, but then we are going off topic now.

Anyway; you should know all this, I have just been to your site about online business and you actually quote about lowering your costs to be successful in running an online business, there is nothing different going on here? The writers are my cost (well one of them) of running my online business!

I'm not directly calling you out - but for all the people in this thread who have attempted to figure out what a decent hourly wage would be for writers needs to read this:

    http://www.allfreelancing.com/showthread.php?tid=6

Freelancers are different than employees. Even if a writer worked 40 hours/week, most of the time the writer can only bill for 22-23 hours out of that week. Why? The thread explains it in more detail, but basically you have to take into account marketing time, bookkeeping, other administrative tasks, etc.

That doesn't even take into consideration breaks during your work day... and taxes!

    Yeah; concise, like it :)

The key is finding the market for your niche or a niche for your market :), admittedly and especially on DP it is an aggressive environment for a writer where pricing is concerned (but it is a good sounding board)!

A writer needs the volume of work to make it feasible (dependant on his/her situation) but to do that you also need quite a few webmasters as clients and to do that your competing against all the other writers on here (some with very low living expenses), to be frank webmasters are the worlds worst for looking for the best deal, I should know I am just as guilty! I.e. from quality to quantity is analyzed and scrutinized.

I am not going to say any more because I will do myself out of some writers, all I will say is the opportunities are out there you just need to find them and like any business it’s still and always will be aggressive, the only time it is not that way is when there is no competition or the competition cannot move into your marketing area! And that is extremely rare (like dyson (copyright) for instance) if you think your artistic enough (write a book like Harry Potter) and all this still happens today so there is hope for all of us:) another little wonder was the million dollar webpage, that was very clever and the lad was only 17 I think but dumfounded millions if not billions of webmasters and what did they do copy him.

In saying all the above I actually thrive on competition, if there wasn’t any I would get totally bored and fight wild boars or something or fight with crocodiles like that chap from down under :) Find your market, believe in your product then put your heart and soul into it like a wild butchers dog is what I say LOL
