Err mate it’s on the right hand side of a decimal point; it also further says “cents per word” so it is (point) .0095 cents per word being 95% of a cent! I personally cannot see how you can equate that to anything other than what it is! So I see no reason for him to excuse his mistake, because there isn’t one! Please explain to me how you are coming to this conclusion? I am really curios now!

The statement “.0095 cents per word” is completely feasible as many governmental institutions especially rating authorities use this terminology! Additionally schools and communications use it too! I may be missing your point but to me it is a pointless exercise (excuse the pun)!

Lastly yes; there is always the possibility of an error and/or omission in anyone’s work (we are all only human) even some of the very best writers make mistakes, but there is also a couple of ways to ensure that work meets a standard, i.e. check the article and read it would be the most obvious first one! For those that get around 20 or more articles a day like me “pay editors” to double check factual statements, and last but not least, dependant on what the site is about, and how important that information is (i.e. life threatening, or medical etc.) ensure you have a legal disclaimer saying the level of competency of the information itself and if further advice should be sought etc.

    Regards
    Paul

Yes, you are right, he is wrong.
I think what people is telling you there, is that by common sense, you would never get an article for 5 cents, so that would make you shift the decimal point mentally to the proper place.

    Hi
Sorry confused with your answer, in your estimation who is right and who is wrong? I made that statement i.e.

“Common sense would suggest it’s not going to be 5 cents for a 500 word article?”

And the decimal point is already there; there is no need to shift it? I.e. “.0095” I am really just intrigued how you can make it anything else other than what it already is, do you have the answer?

    Regards
    Paul :D

It’s not my initial post i am just curios how you can make ".0095 cents per word" into anything other than what it is? Interesting so you would look at it this way too.

    LOL, Who is? :D

So you also think that it is labeled wrong? Can you justify that statement?

In fact does anyone know how you can justifiably turn the statement “.0095 cents per word” into anything other than $4.75 USD, Just a question in this chat area! Do not move the decimal point, type it in as written in a calculator and put you math equation here if different from $4.47! remembering that the “.0095” is of a cent.

    Imo, yes it's wrongly labelled.

    The title say
    .0095 cents = 0.0095 cents.

    If he meant 0.0095 USD$,

he should have written : Writing articles for .0095 dollars per word!

    just my 2 cents.

But mistake happen, specially with maths...

    Hey Paul,

So I'll be ordering a couple of articles at .95 CENTS per word. That's just a bit less than a penny per word. (500 words x 0.95 CENTS = 475 CENTS)

While this began as a silly thing, some people have been pretty nasty, so here is my take on it.

    At 0.0095 cents per word:
One word would cost me 0.0095 CENTS (95 thousanths of a penny)
Ten words would cost me 0.095 CENTS (still less than 1/10 of a penny)
One Hundred words would cost me 0.95 CENTS. (Not a penny yet :) )
One Thousand words would cost me 9.95 CENTS.

    Please look for my PM.

    John

Rate = .0095 cents per word (UNIT = CENTS)
    Number Of Words = 500
    Total Cost (for 500 words)
= Rate * Number of words (UNIT = CENTS)
    = .0095 * 500 (UNIT = CENTS)
    = 4.75 CENTS
    = 4.75 /100 DOLLARS
    = 0.0475 DOLLARS
    = $0.0475

End of today's maths - I will grade your answers tomorrow ;)

    Peace,
    Me.

As the title was written, the guy is charging $0.0475 per 500 word article (in other words, 5 cents per 500 words). Of course, anyone can see that's not what he meant.

DUH, LOL, WELL, What a response ;) I guess I was so stuck in common sense mode I just could not shake how I saw it and thanks for clearing that up, so yep; after a healthy debate you could look at that as “4.75 CENTS” for a 500 word article, mind you; for the couple of sales it made “Sacredhoops” I shall remember this one for a marketing campaign in the future:) perhaps having a dense moment could pay dividends.

Talk about me not seeing the wood for the trees, so I hold my hands up I had a thick and fairly dense 5 minutes or whole day in this case.

BUT; as underlined by “Phlegm Jar” I.e.

I will still stick by it is common sense to not assume “4.75 CENTS” for a 500 word article and to be frank a petty initial comment.

    Regards
    Paul

too funny. i was about to say the same thing. :D

it's obviously a mislabel on the part of the OP of the other thread. it should read as 0.0095 dollars.

I didn't realize it was you who spoke about common sense.
So, you, by common sense, realized that 5 cents per 500 word articles didn't make sense. Well, good done. ;)
