So I have an automatic blog on 000webhost.com which has been running by itself for some months now without me taking care of it. Today I logged in and saw that I almost had 1000 articles published on it, I also saw that I had around 350 unapproved comments. My first thought was to delete all of them since some of them were spam, but then I though "who cares", it's just an automatic blog and maybe it benefits from all the comments. Since the links are nofollow anyways. So I decided to publish ALL of them. And who would have known that the verry same second I did that, 000webhost sent me an automatic message saying: "Our system detected that your account MyWebsite.com tried to send mass mail. Account was suspended, please contact our staff from http://members.000webhost.com/ with explanation why you have sent mass mail which is strictly prohibited by our Terms Of Service: http://www.000webhost.com/includes/tos.php Account will be unsuspended only if you will contact us, do not reply to this email" So, my final conclusion is: Don't mass approve comments on 000webhost, you will get suspended... Hope they respond to my email..
I wonder what their limits are, considering with a paid host it's usually around 300-500 e-mails per hour per domain. They should rather look at a monthly volume or weekly stats of e-mails, then suspend accounts based on that, but not based in a few minutes time. Please keep us posted let us know how it turns out
Ye, I will. It was not even a matter of minutes, I got suspended the verry second I clicked the "Approve comments" button. =)
Update to the thread, they fixed it. =) ************************ REPLY HAS BEEN ADDED: ************************ Hello, We have unsuspended your account MyWebsite.com Thank You, Thorsten Volunteer Staff www.000webhost.com
Do they have any "limitation" stated in their term of use? **Just see the OP replied with problem solved. Ignore my question.
Not any specific limitation, but the thing that chocked me was that I got suspended for mass MAILING when I only approved my comments. I don't know how comments is related to mailing. Do I mail my comments to my site lol?
I am not sure but they might mean about "ping" instead of mailing. Your ping may be a same of their definition about "mailing". lol
Hmm, that should be an issue then. It is considered "mass mailing" if you do it all at once. You should try a VPS or something along those lines.
Almost the same thing happened to me, but it was unrelated to WP. I was coding one of the final features for a new php script I am developing. I was coding the Admin Mass Email feature. Of course I am the only registered user. I got about 3 accounts using different email addresses. I forgot to add the IF statement to check if the form was being submitted when mass emailing, I visited the page about 6x without SUBMITTING THE FORM cause I was getting a message saying "Emails sent..". Then BOOM 404. I was like WTF... I looked into it and I was suspended for MASS EMAILING MYSELF...
I just thought I would mention that it would be better, to develop your mailing scripts and such on a personal development server. You could always set up a local web server and mail server.
So you revived a 700 days old thread to post a comment that is not eve related to the thread? I never had any mailing list, I had an article database....
