I had about 4000 adgroups go from Good or Great QS last year to Poor. Consequently, I had zero clicks as the min bids went bananas. Today, I noticed that yesterday I had loads of clicks and a $300 charge. But when I go to check the QS most of the keywords are Poor. What is going on? Is it likely they decided to test my account for a day, didn't like what they found and then turned off the keywords again? Most odd. Thanks, Jon
Poor QS does'nt mean that Google will not show your adds. But monster will ask you to increase bids Sometimes google start showing adds because of low competition... Be careful
It was for two highly competitive niches, so competition was fierce. Min bids of $5. But why would they be slapped for nearly an entire year, then appear for one day, then disappear again?
It's common. On the bottom of any ad group screen: " Inactive for search keywords have a Quality Score and bid too low to trigger ads on searches for Google or the search network, but they remain active for content impressions. These keywords may occasionally accrue search clicks as we re-assess their quality. " Also see: why is my inactive keyword still generating clicks and charges?
Really? I hadn't had a single click on them for a whole year. Then $300 in one day followed by nothing. I think that is bad practice on Googles part. This was a Search only campaign, so content network doesn't come into it.
That would fall into the "These keywords may occasionally accrue search clicks as we re-assess their quality. " category then. I always suggest that people do something with inactive keywords, don't just leave them sitting. Pause them, redo the campaign, delete, etc. Letting them sit leaves you open to things like you're dealing with now.
I agree, you left them on so basically its your fault. You told google to show them whenever they feel like by leaving the status as active, then they did, then you got upset
