When I got validated originally yesterday for the first time, I had a base of 74 and was running 1 ad per page. Got 5 ads running on each page and re-validated - 0 base.

HTML site. Original validation was with NO footer at all. Since I added footer information, could that be the problem?

Everything looks okay, so it should be fine... did you try revalidating?

Just re-validated and got a 0 base and 0 weight. Could there be something wrong with my HTML code somewhere on one of my pages? Should I remove any footer formatting and footer.txt files?

I'm playing around with trying to get the ads smaller but no success regardless of what I do. More than willing to take it all out to get validated.

That'll do it everytime, I guess. Should I just sit back and let the system revalidate it later? How often does it re-validate?

You can revalidate it on your own if you enter a valid Google API key.

If I don't have a Google API Key, will my site re-validate periodically? Or do I need to get one and put it in there to ensure validation?

Your best bet is to get an API key, then you can revalidate whenever you want.
