Google results change within some months and it may happen, that the database of google.com is on an older status as the local databases.
Nope. Results returned using the 'link' command are the backlinks that google considers when determining your PR rank.
The 'Link command' doesn't show all incoming links, therefore it is not correct to conclude that the site has no backlinks based on that.
That is true, but Google page rank is determined only by backlinks that are displayed by the 'link' command.
The site does have backlinks. If you want a more accurate backlink count, use Yahoo and this command... linkdomain:imps2005.org -site:imps2005.org btw, domainpagerank.com (one of the best fake PR checkers) says the PR is valid and the domain doesn't look like it's 301/302 redirected which usually is the source of fake PR.
Absolutely not true.. Please don't confuse people about this. #1 - The Link: command does not show all the backlinks Google knows about your site. #2 - The Link: command also shows nofollowed backlinks which are not counted in the PR equation. #3 - The Link: command shows internal links. Even if you sign up for an account with Google Webmasters Tools (http://www.google.com/webmasters/) and use the backlink checking in there you are still not seeing all the backlinks Google knows about. The most accurate way to check backlinks is to use Yahoo's linkdomain command or use Yahoo site explorer because if Yahoo knows about the backlinks you can safely assume Google does as well.
As far as what i know in each update there is an updation for every site, none of any site left for update, so you must be wrong, I found this website has few heavy pr back links, that's the reason why it is. I don't find it as an expired domain, Agree with the house of spam term for this website.
I have a PR3 website but thats only got three links to it (all of which are from a 2003 website apparently). 3 in context do follow links from 5 year old pages is good enough I guess It just goes to show how it is the quality of a link and not the quantity that matters most.
Yeah, you are right but google just shows in search results only 3 links, but infact you do have many links. in this case the mentioned website will surely lost pr in coming update.
Don't rely on the number of backlinks Google displays, use Yahoo instead and preferably with linkdomain:www.example.com excluding links from the same domain and not link:http://www.example.com (counts the backlinks to the entire domain and not only to a single page) Another explanation for the PR is 301 redirects from another domain that passed it's link juice to this site.
google doesn't give all the backlinks pointing to your site, if you use google webmaster tool you can the backlinks from your site. To see all the backlinks use yahoo and you'll certainly see all of it even no follow.
link: command is still confusing, you can read an article here that i read over it in past week. It gives you somethng else to think READ HERE: google link: command confusion
I'm afraid you're mostly wrong here, my friend. #1 - The link: command may not show all backlinks that g knows about, but it does show all backlinks that your PR was calculated on. #2 - You'd have to prove that one to me, but I'm willing to keep an open mind about it. The link: comand doesn't show a single no-follow backlink on any of the 100+ domains that I own with postive PR. Prove that it shows no-follow links and I'll concede your point. #3 Agreed, but internal links can also count towards a page's PR. The think you are confusing people about is saying that they should check Yahoo to see what backlinks they have counting toward Google PR. This is absolutly false, as Yahoo backlinks will show tons of links that won't count towards PR at all. If you just want to see total times a site links to yours, then it's ok to use the Yahoo backlinks. But if you want to see what backlinks Google uses to calculate the Google PR, then you should use the google link: command, or check the links in Google Webmaster Central, which may be a little more up to date than the link: command. Keep in mind that google backlinks, and google PR are both calculated only periodically, and separately, so sometimes, as in the OP's case, they may not be in sync. You can go to ebay, and see the thousands of PR domains being sold there, with the same phenomenon of having 0 google backlinks. It's a relativly common occurrence.
