But why PHP and CGI does not use the same amount of bandwidth?
It is very strange for me, can anybody explain?

When a surfer comes both scripts download page from remote website, proxify it and send to the surfer.
Where is the difference between scripts logic?

They are different scripts, based off different programming languages, which therefore complete the same task except differently

Thanks rochow for the great book!

It take only a little time to read, definitely a must read book for a seo n00b like me!

Just use CGI is you want profits and stability.

Use PHP if you want bandwidth overages, hot linking and alot of abuse.

    Sohan,

Is it possible to give me the following values from your httpd.conf as I'd be needing to optimize apache for my new server.

    Timeout
    KeepAlive
    MaxKeepAliveRequests
    KeepAliveTimeout
    MinSpareServers
    MaxSpareServers
    StartServers
    MaxClients
    HostnameLookups
    MaxRequestsPerChild

    Many Thanks!

I started CGI proxy but they caused 100% load to server.
I moved all sites to PHP proxy and server is doing well now and handle even more traffic but use a lot of bandwidth.

Regarding previous accusations about copying, I have had a thousand copycats. Ever since I designed ninjaproxy.com, hotproxies.info, proxyring.com, neoproxy.net, prx1.com... it all started. Fug 'em all. Go get creative bishes.

I disagree on this! Hotlink protection is trivial to code for PHProxy - if you are using V0.5 it already has some degree of protection.

I have coded a simple frontend that almost totally stops hotlinking thru my proxy - when you try, it simply gives you my main proxy page. You simply have to go to my page in order to use my proxy - and that is the way it should be!

Yes, I agree that the bandwidth usage is high, but it does not have to lead to overages - this is something you need to manage and monitor. Of course there are steps (config) you can take to minimise bandwidth usage as well.

Thanks Sohan. Also I have come up with another question.

How can we promote our proxies through MySpace? I'm asking this because I am a n00b to MySpace.

    Yep, I replied too.

http://denyfilters.com/banned/ -- Every time I update it, I'll publish the IPs there.

Are all IP's that I have banned with APF on my server. They are doing click fraud, about 50 clicks in an hour, 5 times!

You should install APF, and ban them too!

I have just found out that a 2 1/2 week old proxy has been blocked by websense!

My proxy only went live a few weeks ago, and it is already blocked. When I decided to set up a proxy, I did follow the advice and registered a heap of domains. I have been promoting 1 as the primary one, and started promoting a 2nd one a couple of days ago.

My strategey is now going to be to continue to promote the 2nd site as the primary one and now bring a new site online ready for when the 2nd one gets blocked!

Is this the sort of strategy that everyone else follows in the Proxy game?
