A lot of people like Adversal (a popup network) on proxied pages. It's really profitable when it pops up on every page load, but that's just plain annoying and is no way to hold on to your users. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
I just wonder why no one use www.paypopup.com and www.valueclickmedia.com banner? are they not allowed? or earn nothing?
If you guys are interested check out here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=213681 I'm selling www.awesomeproxies.com It's a great site, I'm sure alot of you with proxies would find owning this site a great way for free advertising, not to mention the revenue from the sites listed
Because it kills you for returning visitors. People hate them with a passion. In fact, I advertise that my proxies DON'T have popups.
Does anyone here use geotargeting scripts on their proxy sites? If so, did it benefit you? And regardings ads: besides AdSense on main page, what do you recommend for proxified pages? (Both ad banners + popups)
That's what you can rely on adsense on the front page. Popups aren't really necessary, and since they drive away visitors, they in turn drive down adsense earnings. It is a tough decision...
Hey, I thought I'd chime in here: I started a proxy about three days ago. I advertised ONE site on a bunch of topsites(20-25) and was pulling in about 400 uniques in just about 2-3 days. Remember, one site. Silly me, I was on shared hosting, so they pulled the plug. I'm going to follow some suggestions here and try Layeredtech. Also, couldn't a proxy use secure http so as to avoid being blocked from places that implement web filters? All you'd need to do is purchase a Certificate Authority or create your own. This would definitely extend the life a proxy site.
I found some really nice one for $129. 2gb ram, 2tb bandwidth, scsi drives 8% discount on-top of it all.
