I had 20000 visitors to one of my sites yesterday and made about 3 dollars. What am I doing wrong? I am using wordpress and the ads are placed above posts and in sidebar. The ads are in in a green background box, white text and dark green border on a white background. Should I change background of box to white and remove the border? Any other recommendations?
Get rid of the border and change the background colour to the same as your site's. That should increase your CTR by quite a lot. Having ads in the articles/posts will also help. Try using an Adsense plugin such as Adsense-Deluxe.
Hi kandah I had a simular problem when i first started with adsense a few months back, but when I finally figured out why i decided to write an article on it you can see it here: www.wipeout44.com/brain_food/adsense_warfare.asp Hope it helps, these techniques moved by ctr from less than 0.50% to just under 2%
Sorry but if you follow the tips in this link you WILL get banned. You can not have images next to the ads.
Yes... very risky, don't start putting images next to your ad's with 20,000 visits a day its not worth getting the account banned. Try other advertising methods other than adsense or other programs that you can use along side adsense such as TLA they love blogs.
Thank you guys for all the input, I have made some changes now and we will see if ctr improves. I don't want to post the url right now but I will later when the site is a little bit older. Thanks again.
Make sure your ads blend in with your content as much as possible and only put adsense on content pages. Remember a person has to have a genuine interest in the ad if they are going to click so make sure that your content pages and the ads match. This should help your CTR. Article pages are great for adsense because they have lots of targetted content.
You can't just throw up a site and put some adsense ads on it. They will not come, and they will not click. You can spend all your time on ad placement, but my guess is that your site is not suited to Adsense and you'll continue to get poor CTR.
