I have had my forum for the longest time, and have never had god CTR, my average is 0.16.. Beeing a forum (returning members) dosent help.. Does anyone have tips about how to get CTR up on forums?
Aye, the CTR for forums is notoriously low. However, I have heard that randomising the ad placement (say, using a bit of PHP) can help in overcoming ad-blindness. But the CTR will probably never be good; these are savvy, return visitors (as you said). Where's your site? Are you doing all the basic things (colour blending, etc.)?
Returning members are good, but there is a problem with them. They will be knowing everything, where is the content and where is the ad. They might have clicked on ads initially, but after knowing that they are ads, they dont click on them later, unless that the ad is very interesting to them. So try to keep changing ad placements. Frequently change ad colors.
best way is, to blend the ads properly, changing the ad placements frequently and making sure only relevant ads are coming
