Man, you know when you're doing something really wrong when you're getting those sort of click through rates after 790 impressions (1 click). The story goes as follows; I've started an affiliate site which offers the users £70 if they sign up for the UKs highest interest paying current account, as seen here http://www.worthgetting.com. I've not had any problems converting sales to profit, especially with yahoo, however I've only had a very small traffic amount coming in per day, about 10 visitors. My google adverts went as follows and I've paused the campaigns: {KeyWord: Current Account} Paid £70 for signing up to the UKs best current account? Madness! www.recommendafriendoffer.co.uk Current Account rip-offs Don't sign up to a new current account until you've read this! www.recommendafriendoffer.co.uk Does those adverts strike you as poor or ok? The previous domain name will be moved to worthgetting.com very soon (I have to wait to clear it with my campaign managers) and I hope that will create a better impression when it is displayed on the adverts.
Sort of, a current account is a type of bank account. It's an account associated with your wages paying into, quick access to your funds with a debit card and often low interest rates, whereas another type of account would be a savings account.
Is it (current account) a commonly known phrase? I had never heard of it, just wondered how common it is and if people not knowing the lingo is having a negative impact on your ctr.
Reckon you got your answer... The language of your ads is directly associated with British surfers. Your google ads will be seen around the world presumably (if you haven't geo-targetted) - (in English). You might try geo-targeting the ad to UK only. traffic won't be great for a while but it will climb eventually. Also, check your keywords attract 'bank account' new bank account' 'current account' etc type customers and that will probably help.
I have geo-targetted and also current account is often used in commercials on the TV. Bank account is more generic, but I have targetted (several hundred keywords) towards people who shou;d be searching for it. I'll let it run for a while and see if anything happens, but so far the results have been really disappointing.
