Ask an eBay chat rep about this! They will help you!

yes - becuase soon as you click on accept link, it will take you to another page which will ask your user id and/or password, and most of the people just dont check the URL at the top and fill out the information, those stupids get your information and use your account for any illegal purpose, the best approach is to confirm from ebay, so easy is to just copy some TEXT from the email and google it, you will se it that was a scam :)..

Free money? And you are wondering if its a scam?

eBay-related phishing attacks are very popular. Send the offending message here so that it can added to the database.

    IT IS A PHISHING EMAIL.

If what you got was an EMAIL saying that you just recieved this 'check' and you have to confirm... then DELETE IT. IT IS A FAKE.

But if you actually were logged into ebay.com legitimately and you see this payment coming in somehow via ebay's message center... then go for it lol. But I definately think its 99% a fake.

It's a scam, you're lucky you're hesitant enough. Never click on links or fill in your information / password following emails you get, especially from the larger companies around - They're the most common targets of phishing scams.

And +1 for reporting the scam.. We can fight these bastards.

Yeah I nearly fell for one a while back, ''In order to determine our active members, PayPal requires all users to confirm their credit card details''. 1 week later their scam site was offline as I reported to the Police.
