£20 web domain name to go for £1million

Maybe cause it's a meaningful single character domain ?? Probably the same reason why people reg'd cars.com, sex.com, sex.net, porn.com... etc...

It'd be really interesting to really see how much this IDN sells for. Personally, I would see this name purchased more by a collector, but I may be wrong.

 

Well, according to Asian News International, it actually sold for £1mn! Personally, I would have thought the sale would have been reported on by the major media (cnn, abc, etc..) but maybe the sale was subject to a 'non disclosure' agreement??

 

I believe 1 million is what they were hoping for..but I can't find any indication of what it was sold for.

The £.com was supposed to auctioned at this June 26 auction but I can't find Lot 40 (just 1 to 39) at: http://oceantomo.com/auctions.html

I wrote to the auctioneer & received this email in reply:

"Thank you for your interest in Ocean Tomo Auctions. £.com did not sell at auction which is why you are having trouble finding results; I have attached the press release of the Lots that sold. However, the domain name lot is still for sale with Ocean Tomo Auctions. Please feel free to contact me directly to inquire further."
