Maybe cause it's a meaningful single character domain ?? Probably the same reason why people reg'd cars.com, sex.com, sex.net, porn.com... etc...
gotcha, you were the owner who was selling them at domain forum, lol you and started this hypo by providing fake link, relax pipl- nothing is sold
It'd be really interesting to really see how much this IDN sells for. Personally, I would see this name purchased more by a collector, but I may be wrong.
Well, according to Asian News International, it actually sold for £1mn! Personally, I would have thought the sale would have been reported on by the major media (cnn, abc, etc..) but maybe the sale was subject to a 'non disclosure' agreement??
I believe 1 million is what they were hoping for..but I can't find any indication of what it was sold for. According to this http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS138537+28-May-2008+BW20080528 it is supposed to be Lot 40. The £.com was supposed to auctioned at this June 26 auction but I can't find Lot 40 (just 1 to 39) at: http://oceantomo.com/auctions.html
http://living.oneindia.in/insync/2008/richard-haigh-domain-name-auction-300608.html It says it has already sold.
I wish I was, but I'm not the owner of [ £.com ]. I don't have to provide fake link, try this link: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/topstories/2008/06/26/20-web-domain-name-to-go-for-1m-89520-20621262/ I've check and found it is work! and this is another screen-shot I've make -
I'm lucky than you; I know the symbol IDNs sometimes 3 years ago, and I've collect some of them at moment.
I wrote to the auctioneer & received this email in reply: "Thank you for your interest in Ocean Tomo Auctions. £.com did not sell at auction which is why you are having trouble finding results; I have attached the press release of the Lots that sold. However, the domain name lot is still for sale with Ocean Tomo Auctions. Please feel free to contact me directly to inquire further."
Check it out from some symbol domain list on my singature, I've got most of these IDNs from 2 years ago, and all of them are work (affiliate program)...
Yes, they are redirected, as I've mention - they are "affiliate program" If you like to check the "Not redirect" IDNs website, here have some: (not mine site) http://夜二技.com http://刺ç¹.com http://手機.net
Here is a list of working Chinese .cn names. There are certainly more. 北京.CN (Beijing) 新浪.cn (sina.com.cn, biggest news website in China) 人民银行.cn (People's bank of China) 奥è¿é—¨ç¥¨.CN (Olympic tickets) å¡è¥¿æ¬§.cn (CASIO)
wow he bought that for £20 !!! thats an expensive IDN! I wonder what the renewal charge for that is lol But I hope he gets a decent amount!
For your ref. - Another very famous symbol IDN have sold (by auction) on Sedo early 2007 - US$4,100 for ©.com and $2,350 for ®.com
