New Feature: Ambient Orb Support

Discussion in 'Keyword Tracker' started by digitalpoint, Jan 21, 2005.

Figured I should do something for the 20,000 user benchmark.... so for all the real geeks out there, here it is.

If anyone has an ambient orb, the keyword tracker can change it's color for you based on your daily ranking movements (as a whole). If you have one, you can put it's serial number in the Preferences (within your keyword tracker account of course).

If you just want to read about it, check it out over here.

Yeah... my girlfriend got me one for Christmas. It's a really fun toy... actually more useful than I thought it would be. Mine starts blinking red if any of my server's load goes over a certain point. If anyone actually gets/has one (I'll be able to tell by how many keyword tracker users put in their serial number), I was thinking of making it an option to turn blue or something if you get a PM in the forum. Just dorky stuff... :)

I got one, works well - expect for the fact that it is always orange. Its a programmers glitch, Ambient is taking it back and fixing it. They know about the issue and said it should take a minute to fix. However, i have to mail it back to them.

Shame, I guess I'll just have to move to the US...weather here is horrible - there's no sun, no snow, no beaches + no mountains..

Very cool Shawn, I like the server load option better than the rankings. However, it would be cool if you could interface it with my girlfriend, so that I can tell when she is in a good mood (green) or bad mood (red).

The device has an option to let you know about the weather, which I really can't justify as being worth the cost, as its free to look outside and more useful.

Man, that's cool, just a shame it won't work in 'the Kingdom'... oh well

Still, intrigued as ever, had to go check it out and aswell as your Think Geek link, Shawn, I found the Ambient Orb producer's site with loads of FAQs etc. Says 90% coverage in the US... Well interesting :D

Perhaps someone could figure out a way for it to show the future weather, I think that would be useful. Actually I don't know why no one has thought of this before. Think how useful it would be to look at your orb and be able to judge whether or not to bring an umbrella to work, etc. Time to start writing a business plan. I think a lot of media (radio/tv/newspaper) would all want to get in on the action, not just this orb thing. Wish me luck!

We have much better beer though. ;)

Snow, we've had plenty of that up here in Manchester recently and as for mountains what do you call the likes of Snowdonia and Ben Nevis?
