Hmmmm.... I just took a look. AdSense without the money? Not sure how many people are going to fall for this one. Anyone put it on their site?

Maybe I need a headcheck but since this site is new w/ no traffic anyway, I put it on there (VERY) temporarily so you can see how it works... in the setup, looks like you can exclude the adsense part and just show news/searches.

I don't understand why anyone would want this unless they paid for it especially since it says "powered by google".

I agree. This product is really bad:

    - it will compete with my Adsense ads
    - it will compete with the RSS news that I want to show
    - it will directly compete with competing sites that are equivalent to mine (and I assume the most displayed sites will probably be those with a higher PR)
    - I certainly do not want to provide a "related searches" field. It presents too many risks my users will jump to another site/topic. I want them to stay on MY site to click on MY adsense ads. Keeping the number of outside link to a reasonable limit is an art btw...

Sorry, Google, but this one is not going to be a g star product ;-)

Could not be better explained. I want visitors in my site, I don't want them to leave for free. Google is surprising...

If this could be used server side then there may be some SEO benefit in the same way as including an RSS news feed.

Having it as a JS makes little sense really and takes up space that could be used for othre things.

It is unlikely that google will start a product similar to adsense without any monetization benefit. they must have something up their sleeves.;)
but this is more likely to be used for theming websites by google, IMHO:)
