Are Yahoo Search Results Regional?

    I just got off the phone with a friend of mine. He is in Sacremento, CA and I am in Los Angeles, CA. We were comparing the search results for a website and discovered that his results were different from mine. On the keyword "exterior window shutters", I was seeing http://www.shuttercontractor.com/ on page 3, while he was seeing it ranking #7 on page one.

    It may have made sense if we would have seen local companies in the result and they were only advertising in their specific region, but all of the companies in the first 20 results were national.

    On Google and MSN, we are getting exactly the same results. One other variable is that his Internet service is through SBC (Yahoo), and mine is not affiliated with Yahoo.

    Has anyone else experienced this?
