Like anything it's no good unless you know someone to chat to but I'm sure it'll catch on. How long till they get adsense?

How long until Trillian adds it?
    I like the all-in-one approach :)

That's the name of the game. Wouldn't you love to be able to do that?!

Minor change I'd like and that is for it to be taken off the task bar when it's minimised.

Major change I'd like is for it to be integrated into gMail so I only have one thing open at a time.

As for only being available to people using gmail, well the same goes for AOL. ICQ insists you sign up. I do prefer not giving out my email address though and thats the #1 reason I don't use MSN.

They might just get my $$$, I'm still using the free version.

Just close the chat window and it will be taken off the taskbar, you will only see the icon ;)

Interesting strategy. Use an existing platform so you have existing 3rd party product support.

People seem enamored with Jabber, but my experience with testing it was that it was a pretty weak product with a community that was fairly lacking in friendliness to outside developers. The server side seemed pretty solid, but client-wise not a lot of great clients and even the trillian extension is problematic. I wonder if google didn't help to fix up the trillian implementation. They only have about 400K "pro" users so probably not.
