Is anyone using Ad Placements in the channels to try for targeted ads? Results? I'm thinking of running a few channels this way and curious what others have found.

I didn't see any ads on the site, but then maybe I just got distracted by the pictures.

I don't understand the question either.

With channels you can check what ad-placement works.

You cannot influence ad-targeting that way though.

If you mean using channels for ad placement statistics, I am using that. And yes, it is helpful.

Now I understand. This is a new feature that I think will benefit publishers but only large websites since (if my understanding is good) you need advertisers to choose your website to advertise.
I am not really happy with google making adsense less and less automated avery day ! If they keep making changes like this, we will end up using a standard affiliate programme

You can use channel to track every individual performance such as page and ads location. Check Adsense report by channel and you'll see which channel work the best and you can concentrate on that similar keyword of ads location. Different page may have different keyword and different keywords have different CTR, so create more page with similar keywords.

I have precisely one advertiser that does epcm on my site. Still, I did just clean up my channels a bit (got rid of the ones I have not been using) and gave a description to the ones that should be extra interesting to advertisers that would like to do eCPM ads on my site through adsense.

I do like this, but it does change the way I want to use my channels. Added to other recent changes adsense made, it is getting a bit complicated... I mean, with thousands of pages keeping up with what adsense enables me to do with my statistics is just hard.

With this new change it makes sense to have subject channels again, whereas before the same functionality came through URL-channels. It now also makes sense to have a channel per place on your site. Before I used to create channels wich were like style place adsize subject
Now it makes more sense to have a separate
'style' channel for each style ad you have, if you are still testing that (mostly done that though)
a 'place' channel for each place on your site you have ads (menu, under title, below article)
an adsize channel makes sense if you are still testing that
a subject channel if your site is about various subjects.

Golly. And of course I'm stuck with all my old channels.
