YPN Closing At End Of April, What Will You Do?

Discussion in 'Publisher Network' started by acuman, Mar 31, 2010.

WOW, I can't believe YPN is closing down. I have so much work to do to remove all the ads.

I am not sure what to replace them with, any suggestions?

    Thanks!

what will i do? I'll be happy! Yahoo has been a waste of space on my site for the last 2 or 3 years. i test it every few months, and it never ceases to amaze me how lousy it does. I'll stick with Adsense, Kontera and Chitika.

I just got the e-mail a few minutes ago. I never implemented them, so I guess it doesn't really affect me. I found it interesting that they're recommending Chitika:

I think it's a mistake for Yahoo to give up on this, unless they're continuing to move away from search and are focusing on more social aspects. Should be interesting.

I guess this answer the "When will it be in India" question with resounding finality.

Not unexpected as the Bing Merger has been approved.

    Not Chitika!!!

This is not unexpected as the Bing Merger is approved and MSN has their own program (Which is invite only and very difficult for small publishers).

Perhaps Bing will extend more invitations for their own program?

YPN has sucked pretty bad this past year anyway.

    Absolutely not!
Chikita is only for search engine traffic, it doesn't do a damn thing for regular visitors.

Yeah, it is "unexpected". Unfortunately, what can one do.

    Hardly,
YPN has delivered (and paid) better than most any of their competition. Sadly, they don't compare to adsense, but adsense is a pathetic waste of space anyways. Anyone that can terminate accounts for doing nothing wrong, not give the publisher a chance to fix the issue, and claim some stupid BS about "your site was deemed as hazardous to our advertisers" is just utter crap. Google is not the answer here.

Only it's not. I really don't think they'd "fool" all their publishers by mailing them and saying "hey, we're closing at the end of next month". That's just stupid.

Now the question begins of "what to replace them with".
Adsense is out of the question as their discriminatory practices are heinous and pathetic.
Adbrite is nothing but adult ads any more.
Chikita is nothing but search engine traffic (no thank you, I have real websites that get people back on a daily basis, I don't rely on search engine traffic for but about 5-10% of my traffic)

ANY other suggestions would be good here

Looks like they've fallen to Adsense. I wonder why they're advertising Chitika? Most likely, it's so that google doesn't get any new publishers. However, most people using YPN were people who were banned from adsense anyway, lol.

Is not about Adsense competence is about Yahool's limiting regulations excluding the whole world out of its network because the whole world is not made of US citizens... but the whole world buys, sells and targets to the USA.

They sucked so much that, frankly, I'm glad Yahoo puts them out of their misery. I've been with Chitika long time and have no problem switching all my former YPN ads to Chitika. Or AdSense. There are just a handful of niches were earnings from Chitika compete with that of AdSense so I'll have to look hard which of the two ad networks I use where.

If you are a YPN publisher you would have received an email from YPN notifying you of the closing. YPN is recommending Chitika for ads.
