New google ad style?

wierd, but not a bad idea to have acctually. Might be a good idea if it can be disabled as well.

 

does the adsense code look any different from what you are used to seeing?

 

That's my site. It's regular old adsense code.

Thing is, that ad code is text only.

I saw one of these adds pop-up in my domain blog today. The same one about register_dot_com. I was actually working on content for a site, so I inadvertently reloaded the page before I could get a good look at it. I thought maybe I was tired and my eyes were playing tricks on me.

It's a nice feature. Can really get a text ad noticed, no doubt. I am wondering how I can create this "AS Favicon" (is that a good name for it?) for my ads. Hopefully they'll be an annoucement about it soon.

I like it, this is not a complaint.

 

Maybe it is a category thing...or maybe it is just the favicon...but why? My users click text ads 70% more than graphic ads....I don't want the graphics.

That's cool and why I have this block text myself. But for your stat, how'd ya get that? Can we tell the percentage of text vs image and clicks?

I would suppose advertisers spending large amounts would get special treatment, maybe this is part of it?

 

I've also noticed a new type of Ad links box (with a search feature) that is being inserted into ad blocks.... (see the bottom ad)

Well whether you like it or not, I would expect that CTR will increase for at least the next 10 to 20 days while it is still a novelty....

 

They are favicons. But are they working only for sites which have favicons?

I like the look of them adlinks boxed from Tsection. They look very good.

 

Yes they are favicons.

I think it may be a way for the big brands to differentiate from affiliates, or to just differentiate from the small spenders.

 

It's eye catching for sure. We shall see.
