Not sure what I think about that... On one hand, if someone created a fake profile in an attempt to discredited the real person and that person complained, then I would expect the owner of the site to pull the profile.
But, I guess you would need to prove who you say you are to the site owner before they take action. And also prove that you did not set the account up in the first place.

On the other hand, will places need to start requiring ID before letting you sign up!

Wonder how many people are now going to set up accounts for themselves, then claim they are fake and sue as well.

Wonder if Australia's PM can get anything out of twitter  http://twitter.com/KevinFuckinRudd

    Cheers

Thats a great idea. Let's create a list of celebs which might take action on seeing their fake profiles ... Kevin Rudd is one ...

These sort of things happen all the time. So I guess owning such a site is a high risk issue... It wont be a big sum for Google. but what if it was the average webmaster?

    obviously agree what you said,
google would probably lose more if they agree the order.

Are you sure Google will eventually pay that penalty?

Google isnt stressing about 500 grand as thats a sponsored lunchen to them..

Yes they dont like losing in courts as that only opens up the doorway for more
to attack/sue which would cost them millions down the road.

A good example would be the guy whom beat them in "small claims court" over them
trying to keep his adsence money and they wouldnt explain why he was terminated
from adsence.. (He won then they quickly appealed the judges decision)

This is just dumb. I really hate this guy now... he's a bitch. How can he say what a company can and can't do? If this happens adsense will be gone in no time. No one can compete if all they do is sue over someone making a fake profile of them.

They havn't paid enough attention to the matter if at all. I hate spammers myself and if someone creates a fake account of me with who knows what kind of fake porn pics, i would sue the site if they dont do anything about it!!!
