I think Microsoft will slowly but surely eat Google's marketshare away. The Windows Live Image search is really cool. I tried it out tonight and was impressed what Ajax can do.

    Its rocking man.

I think now it is not so much cluttered as it used to be.

It is now looking more neat and clean. The related searches thing also rocks.

Somehow i think that visitors that come from the new MSN lose their Referring URL and appear like direct visits. At least this is what my statcounter shows.

Can you tell me if you see this too (no visitors from MSN + increase of direct visits) ?

As each site becomes more enriched in what can only be called as "eye candy" to give the appearance of a more pleasing and professional site distracts the person interfacing with the site a false sense of reality. I am reminded of an old phrase "if it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck then it is a duck" this is what Microsoft wants you to believe "if it looks like a support site and runs like a support site then its a support site" if though that is far from the truth. Microsofts site only exists because they create products in haste in order to get the jump on their competitors who only release when it is right, thus Microsoft needs a site to provide "hotfix" or patches for various security issues. Really makes someone wonder doesn't it.

The looks are nice yeah but, it is a bit slower than the previous search.msn.com and it's certainly not as fast as Google. The search results are still the same and I believe MSN search results are faaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr better than Yahoo search results

When Windows Vista comes out Microsoft search engine market is going to increase a lot. People like the new Live idea, and the search is very nice and clean. But here is the true secret on why Microsoft is going to increase in search engine market, its because live.com takes you straight to a search box and people love that. Thats why Google got so famous, because of the simple search box. Live.com is a easy domain to remember and its going to work wonders for Microsoft.

For all does people who still are not ranking well in Live.com i would suggest you work on that, so you can take advantage of the increase in market share from live.com

This is exactly what I am seeing on my sites. I couldn't figure out what was going on ... I checked my MSN keywords and they were all where they should be. But your right, I see alot more direct visits in statcounter.

This sucks since now I can't see who is coming from MSN, nor can I see any associated search parameters.

Login screen to live.com looks like Windows login screen, so I think they will integrate live.com into Vista very closely. Next September it might happen that market share will look like :
    live 38%
    google 34%
    yahoo 22%

I wonder why doesn't Google buy (integrate with) Sun (Solaris) or Red Hat?

I imagine Google with red hat on one o.

Many people would download and install Google OS (Solaris? RHEL?) just to try.

I'm not happy that MSN is no longer sending referrer info. I like to see what keywords people are searching on to get to my sites !

I just manually tested this and yea, no referrer ...

I'd be surprised if they don't end up fixing this - really should pass it.
