Google starts April off with a bang!

    Hi all,

Im up into the night watching Googles actions and it looks like Australians are really sweating it at the moment. Every .com.au domain has been removed form G's index. It happened about 3 hours ago. The entire country is gone from Google.

Search for all domains with a .com.au in the domain name:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...allinurl:com.au

    Nothing!

Look at the PR for this one:

    http://www.news.com.au/

    Nothing!

I really do hope this is an April fools joke. Otherwise I feel sorry for Australians.

Checked it again, still nothing. I bet SEO's are being woken up, this could be serious if it doesnt change quick. Anybody know what is going on?

Well Google.com.au still exists. I have received 7 referals from google.com.au and my host is only two hours into Friday and I received 13 visitors on Thursday which was Friday in Oz.

    She'll be right, mate.

It may have been an update glitch. On searchenginewatch someone was saying they called Google/AU and the rep had no idea it happened. 20 minutes later everything wa back up.

I wonder what the cost to the Aussie economy would have been? 3 or so hours off google....? That is pretty significant to some businesses: if it was 3 hours that's 12.5% of a 24hr day or 37.5% of an 8hr day of traditional business hours.

If that was an April fools it was a pretty unfunny one, I wonder how much money some people lost! A glitch would be a little more forgivable!

The .com.au are back and so are the pageranks. That definitely was a glitch on google's part.
