Financial crisis taking heavy toll on Adsense?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by halonen, Oct 9, 2008.

Don't know about you guys but lately my adsense income is getting significantly lower than it used to be, especially after this whole financial crisis situation started showing serious signs on global scale. How about you? Lower income? Or not? Do you believe that our earnings will be severely affected by this unpleasant financial crisis?

No doubt. No doubt. But I do hope not. well as far I as google, I am not really that concerned about them, as they already have enough cash, my only concern is with those who have google adsense.

    lol.... that includes ME.

But my blog started earning me money after global financial crisis began. I hope google stocks and shares doesn't get affected by global economic meltdown.

If people stop spending, business owners will have less money to spend on advertising. So yes, it would have a major impact. I know of one company with a large Adwords budget that stopped all their campaigns, so it is happening...

    I agree..
Advertisers probably cutting down the budget or lowering the CPC for their campaigns due to this global downfall.

Last month was very good for me on adsense but I've noticed a big drop in earnings so far this month. It's gone down to about half of the amount I earned in the first week of September. I think the global crisis is taking its toll although people are still buying just as much through my affiliate links as they were before. Incidentally, we've had our house on the market since April and can't sell it due to the credit crunch in the UK.

Haven't seen a dip yet, but it's definitely coming.
it's obvious some cos. will cut down on advertising.
especially the mom and pop operations trying to make
headway online, but on the brighter side, when the
economy recoups the windfall will be greater, on account
    of more entrepreneurs :)

huge drop here as well. Specialy yesterday, it was about 60% of usualy money (and I am talking about large scale, about 2k clicks a day, not just few clicks)

Mine has been a rollercoaster. $18 one day, $58 the next. Last month there were swings but not anywhere near like that. I think how bad you'll get hit depends on your niche.

Actually, I think it will impact many financial websites less and may actually help some because people will still need financial services (insurance, banks, etc.). People will not still need consumer products though.

People are having to pay more for their mortgages and loans and higher inflation means that you get less for your money. Our fuel prices have gone up tremendously in the UK but salaries haven't gone up to match. We're starting to see reposessed houses being advertised at rock bottom prices. This all affects the way in which people spend, so yes it will affect adsense and affiliate marketing.

I have not noticed this effect much personally. However I am concerned.

Isn't it true however that adsense type ads offer a great return to marketers because of their highly targeted nature? Wouldn't companies first cut back on print ads and such before touching CPM and CPA formats?

personally i have noticed a significant fall with google adsense earnings throw the last month and i think the main reason is the crisis. Advertisers have less money then the amount of money they spend is lower.
