i'm not sure about the exact method of hacking, but it happens on shared hostings with not so protected servers and when you have write permissions on files and folder from visitors (talking about folders with premissions 777 and 775 for example).
I also have such a problems with kids from turkey which have a mission to put their flags and stupid causes on other ppls pages. And in most of the cases they just replacing my index.php or .html files.
Aks your hosting to restore backup and for some future suggestions for your site. (they have to look at your files and site structure)
Also make a search for WP security in Google, theres a lot of useful articles
