New Ideas to increase traffic

Hi,
Recently I started a website that provides free jokes(its in the signature).
I still can't get any good traffic to the website. I have another site(an adult one) which gets some very good traffic, but this is different...
I posted backlinks for the joke site on digg, redit and others, posted in forums and I am writing an article.

Could you share with me some ideas on how to increase traffic to a JOKE site?

 

You are well on your way! Posting in forums, writing articles, posting comments on other blogs, joining social media sites like Digg.com, StumbleUpon.com and Twitter.com and trying to get inbound links from other relevant sites is the way to go. Just remember it takes some time to build good traffic so be consistent and persistent, do not stop if you do not see much improvement after couple of days... it can be weeks and months, but when you get your break it will all be worth it.

 

Join some popular Yahoo Groups and participate in the discussions. Have your website link as your signature so the other members can see it.

 

I have found that replying to questions on Yahoo Answers (with a link to your site of course) will bring in traffic.

 

Is this a joke?

 

The yahoo answers does seem to work. It's quite time consuming but it does bring traffic.

 

Research some highly searched keywords and try to rank well on SERPS for it.

 

I like the Yahoo Groups idea. At least you should be able to make some fans if your jokes are any good.

After a week of setting-up my site and started commenting on blogs, I receive around 120 daily from google... I think doing seo in earlier stage is very important... now my site is getting 800/day from google after 2 months..

 

people in social network site are more likely intertested in JOKE site. I think. for example, myspace, facebook, twitter, and so on.

 

I also do like the Yahoo Answers

 

Well ı think it takes time, keep hearing about quick results but for me it is happening slowly...but happening

 

Used yahoo with link to my website and posted a little here and there and i got very well traffic

 

Make an app on Facebook or Myspace and call it Joke of the day

 

ya you are right people dont know about the yahoo groups. And how much it is important. They are just focusing only on the Google. Yahoo is also one major place which can divert the traffic to your site.

 

I think that a great idea would be to make a video or several telling the best jokes You have. Put it on Utube, Viddler, etc. That should work fairly well!!

 

Making genuine content is essential for good serps and traffic . I think its little difficult if you are collecting jokes/SMS.

 

Try using Video Marketing. You can use Tube Mogul. It is free service. Free : submit 150 videos monthly.

 

Jokes are a dead-beat and (generally) low-paying topic. My advice would be to find a better niche.
